A number of gadgets invented over the last two centuries have now been consigned to the dustbins of history. They have become showpieces in museums. Some of them are the typewriter, comptometer, fountain pen, black-and-white television sets with antennas, floppy discs and the like. The next item on the chopping block is the landline telephone. However, a few gadgets are still holding their grounds and refuse to be pushed out of service. The bicycle, the radio, the stethoscope would be some of them.
